 About the Women's Section

Hello and thank you for visiting Ferndown Royal British Legion Women's Section web page.

The Royal British Legion Women's Section is an integral yet autonomous part of The Royal British Legion, and shares its proud 85 year history. It is a non-sectarian, non-political organisation formed in 1921, to promote the well-being and to give assistance to ex-Servicewomen and the dependants of ex-Servicemen and women; and to assist The Royal British Legion in its work.  It currently has 62,500 members from all walks of life aged 16 -102 and its President is HRH The Princess Royal.

We are the largest organisation protecting the interests and welfare of women with a service connection. Being either service women or widows and  orphans of service or ex service personnel or personnel who have been injured in the line of duty.

Women's section membership is open to any woman over the age of 16 who supports the aims of our organisation
